We primarily focus on noise source localisation with microphone array measurements, in complex situations the only possible method to identify noise sources. With an understanding of the origin of the noise, it is possible to take effective measures to minimise sound radiation.

Since the business started in 2001, Sound View Instruments has focused on advanced sound measurements, requiring the simultaneous use of many microphones, called microphone array measurements. A microphone array is sometimes also called an acoustic camera. With instruments, developed through our own research, we are able to view sound sources in complex situations in their real environment, for example sound radiated from by-passing vehicles. New legislation plus a demand for low-noise products make it increasingly important for manufacturers of products and operators of processes to understand not only how much sound their products/processes generate, but also the origin of the sound. Microphone array measurements may prove to be invaluable tools in reducing noise radiation and helping companies to compete effectively on the market with their products.
